VanessaCharge

Support

Email is the whole support system. There is no ticket portal, no chatbot, and no account to log into first.

Setting it up for the first time? That is a page of its own, which walks through creating the VRM access token the app signs in with. This page is for when something is wrong.

Strange Calculus publishes VanessaCharge, and one address covers every app it publishes. The link above already puts this app in the subject line; leaving it there is what sorts the mail.

Replies usually come within a few days. It is one person, so a weekend can stretch that.

What to include

The app sends no diagnostics anywhere — it has no server to send them to — so anything learned about a problem has to come from you. The fastest path to a real answer:

Never send your VRM Personal Access Token. It is a credential for your own system, nobody needs it to help you, and a screenshot of the token field is worth checking before you attach it.

Reporting a privacy or security problem

Write to privacy@strangecalculus.com instead, so it is not sitting behind a question about a widget. If you believe the app sends data anywhere other than Victron, that contradicts the privacy policy and is worth knowing about before anyone else finds it.

Common questions

Do I need a VanessaCharge account?

No, and there isn’t one. The app uses your existing Victron VRM account through a Personal Access Token you issue in VRM.

Where is my token stored?

In the iOS Keychain on your device, and nowhere else. Revoking it in VRM cuts the app off immediately.

Why does a screen say it can’t reach VRM?

Every screen fetches live, so no connection means no data. The usual causes are a token that has been revoked or expired, an installation ID that belongs to a different account, or simply being somewhere a van tends to be.

What happens to my data if I delete the app?

The cached trend data and the Keychain entry go with it. Your VRM installation is untouched, because the app only ever read from it.
